This match really was a game of two halves, Barnet took an early lead after a cheeky drop goal from the touch line and scored three more converted first half tries.
The boot of their fullback being the difference between the sides as he added three conversions to his drop goal including one from the touch line converting his own try.
One of the tries was a gift as a slice kick to touch, “banana’d” back into play catching our fullback unawares for their winger to take an opportunist try.
Their full back added a try of his own after dummying a drop goal from the touchline and then scooting around the rush defence. Very sloppy from the Vees defence on both occasions.
24-0 down at half time and Vees had to turn things around and did so in style, dominating the 2nd half. Andy Paton at 9 looked dangerous all game.
Adam Kal looked comfortable at 10 in only his second game of Union.
In the centres Choppin danced and skipped around his opposition creating gaps everytime he got the ball.
The forwards provided a steady stream of possession working hard in the set piece against the larger Barnet pack.
All four tries were very well worked.
The highlight was when fullback Westhead fielded a kick inside his half and led a counter attack, switching with fellow Rugby League player Kal who raced away down the left wing, finally putting Rampling free to score.
Nice to see the Centurion connection bearing fruits already. Waters and Paton both scored after some slick handling all round
Captain Adam Rees was very happy with the performance watching from the sideline, but still has a lot of work to do with the first league game only 2 weeks away.
